Published on April 10, 2017

Tata Business Excellence Group (TBExG) conducted a Business Excellence Practitioners’ Programme for Indian Steel & Wire Products Limited (ISWPL) in order to help the company build Business Excellence (BE) capability far and wide within the organisation. The programme was held on March 22-24, 2017 in the company’s Jamshedpur premises, and was attended by 26 participants from different businesses and functions of ISWPL. The focus of the programme was to create a high level of engagement for the Tata Business Excellence Model (TBEM) framework.

The programme was facilitated by Subhrajit Basu, Senior Consultant, TBExG and Devraj Chattaraj, Senior Consultant, TBExG, and was customised to the requirement of ISWPL. The three-day programme content and pre-work design was finalised after a series of discussions with ISWPL based on its objective and purpose. The programme covered various aspects of TBEM, including core values, process and result linkages and appreciating elements of results. To embed learning, participants were divided into teams and asked to self-assess identified key processes of ISWPL by using the ADLI process maturity framework. The participants presented the improvement opportunities and identified various projects on the third day of the programme based on the team exercises. Rakesh Babu, Business Excellence Head, ISWPL, appreciated the efforts invested by all the team members and suggested to put in place a practice of laying down action plans at the organisational level to address key process gaps. He also encouraged participants to be the evangelists of business excellence in their own functions and in the company.

The session was highly appreciated by ISWPL employees, with many of them making a commitment to take the next step and join the growing ranks of assessors for the TBEM assessments of different Tata companies.
