Preparing Experienced Assessors for the Next Leap in TBEM Assessments: EAP 2026

Published on May 18, 2026

As TBEM assessments continue to evolve, the Experienced Assessors’ Programme (EAP) 2026 has been thoughtfully redesigned to align assessors with the enhanced methodology outlined in the updated TBEM framework. The programme focuses on strengthening consistency, deepening enquiry, and reinforcing the linkage between evidence, scoring, and feedback.

At its core, the shift is not about what assessments cover, but about enhancing how they are conducted, ensuring greater rigour, clarity, and alignment in outcomes.

Setting the Tone: Leadership Perspective

Emphasising the importance of this shift, Sanjeev Singh, Head - TBExG, highlighted the evolving role of assessors.

Assessors are expected not only to evaluate processes and results, but also to:

  • Enable learning-oriented conversations with organisations;
  • Ensure alignment between evidence, scoring, and feedback;
  • Identify risks, disruptions, and inflection points;
  • Support and mentor fellow assessors;
  • Uphold objectivity, integrity, and Tata values.

This perspective reinforces that assessments must go beyond compliance, moving towards insight-driven engagement, while maintaining the discipline and credibility of the TBEM 2.0 framework.

Advanced EAP: Strengthening Judgement

The Advanced EAP is designed for assessors with four or more TBEM assessments, who anchor teams and influence overall assessment quality.

  • The programme focused on strengthening judgement, ensuring consistency, and improving the quality of insights- beginning with reflections from TBEM 2025 to align expectations under TBEM 2.0.
  • A key emphasis was on a Lines of Inquiry–led approach, moving beyond checklist-driven assessments, to sharper, theme-driven questioning through Key Theme–Criteria–LOI matrices.

The programme reinforced alignment with the intent of TBEM 2.0 and emphasised the critical linkage between feedback and scoring, supported by strong focus on multi-tiered internal calibrations.

Above all, it highlighted that the true value of an assessment lies in the quality of the feedback conversations—clear, balanced, and enabling meaningful improvement, while upholding professionalism, objectivity, and the Tata values.

EAP 2026: Building Strong Foundations for LOI-led Assessments

The Experienced Assessors’ Programme (EAP 2026) focused on strengthening foundational capabilities and equipping assessors for the LOI-led assessment approach.

  • The programme built capability in Key Theme identification, LOI formulation, and strengthened NERD writing and scoring, while reinforcing the correct application of assessor guidelines.
  • A strong emphasis was placed on applying a Key Theme–led, LOI–driven approach, enabling a more holistic understanding of the assessee organisations.

Overall, EAP 2026 strengthened the foundation for consistent, rigorous, and value-adding assessments, aligned with the TBEM 2.0 framework.

Programme Reach and Engagement

EAP 2026 programmes were conducted across multiple locations in India and the UK, with participation from assessors across various Tata group companies. The enthusiastic engagement and strong feedback reflect a shared commitment to enhancing the quality and consistency of TBEM assessments.

Across all the sessions, 11 TBExG facilitators enabled a deep understanding of the LOI-led methodology, guided the participants through enhancements in TBEM 2.0 criteria, and enabled reflection on previous assessment learnings. The high level of participation in LOI matrix creation and NERD writing exercises reinforced a shared commitment towards more insight-driven, business-relevant, and value-anchored assessments.

Way Forward: From Competency Development to Assessment Excellence

With the successful completion of EAPs 2026, TBExG will now focus on translating these competencies into consistent assessment experiences in the TBEM 2026 cycle.

Key priorities include:

  • Drive adoption of the LOI-led assessment methodology across all TBEM assessments;
  • Strengthen calibration and governance mechanisms to ensure alignment between scoring and final feedback;
  • Provide on-ground assessor support through mentoring, reviews, and subject-matter expert interventions;
  • Build continuous feedback loops to refine methodology based on assessment learnings.
