Tata companies are making efforts and roadmaps to deal with the fast-emerging paradigms of the digital world and the associated phenomenon of ‘all-pervasive real-time data’. Data privacy is an area of increasing focus, learning and collaboration for strengthening privacy practices within Tata companies. Keeping this in mind, to increase awareness and strengthen the efforts of Tata companies, the TNF India - Southern chapter in collaboration with TBExG and Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) conducted a webinar session on data privacy on November 23, 2021.
Logamurugan V, Head - Global Privacy Office, TCS, presented the key aspects of data privacy. He highlighted the importance of data privacy and the consequences of privacy violations. During the session, Mr Logamurugan brought out the clarity, between privacy and security and explained the common terminologies, fundamentals, and concepts around data privacy with easy-to-understand examples.
The discussion was led by focusing on how privacy regulations and data privacy requirements are getting widespread and stringent among various countries and industries. TCS’s journey in privacy was highlighted and insights were provided on how its privacy framework (PrivACE) helped in global rollout with compliance customised to suit local requirements. This has been acknowledged by an industry body, Data Security Council of India (DSCI) and TCS was awarded the ‘Best Privacy Practices in Organization’ for the year 2021. The webinar was concluded with an oversight on data privacy regime in India and the way forward.
Post the webinar, TBExG has rolled out a survey and benchmarking study across the Tata Group on data privacy. The outcome of the study will be shared through a webinar along with critical inputs for strengthening privacy practices across Tata companies.
