Tata Elxsi reflects on daily management and delivery excellence shared by Tata Steel and TCS

Published on August 09, 2022

Tata Elxsi is working on a Leadership Mentoring initiative which aims to instill a culture of action-observation-reflection (AOR). This exercise aims to advance Tata Elxsi’s leadership system and support transformation. To instill a culture of continuous improvement across the organisation, the company wanted to understand the practice of daily monitoring at Tata Steel and delivery excellence at Tata Consultancy Services (TCS).

To support Tata Elxsi in its endeavors, TBExG facilitated a best practices sharing session with Tata Steel and TCS. In the first session on May 5, 2022, Dr. Pankaj Kumar, Chief - TQM & Corporate Quality Assurance at Tata Steel, shared the practice of daily management. Post the session, Tata Elxsi would be exploring the feasibility of applying the principles of daily management in its various departments.

Thereafter, on June 10, 2022, in a session led by the TCS team of K Subramanian, Head - Delivery Excellence; S Sukanya, Global Head - Delivery Governance; and Sonie Saran, Head - Business Excellence, shared key facets of delivery excellence. In the session, Mr Subramanian gave an overview of TCS’s Delivery Excellence Group (DEG), a set of networks that drive delivery certainty and excellence in customer accounts, projects and services by ensuring a strong governance throughout their lifecycle. The DEG is the custodian to ensure that all projects provide a uniform delivery to its customers, identifies at early warning risk indicators and associated mitigants for projects, enable usage of best practices and align with the larger TCS strategy of driving business 4.0 behaviours in how it delivers and creates value. In the session, he also touched upon enterprise agile transformation of TCS and TCS’s Virtual Agile Ninja Coach Programme, a transformation programme designed to build world class Agile Ninjas. From this session, Tata Elxsi could take away key learnings in terms of modular design of DEG and governance structure.
