Every year, Tata Business Excellence Group (TBExG) organises a series of orientation sessions designed to impart pivotal insights and knowledge to Assessors as they progress in the BE Assessment cycle. These specially curated sessions are planned for specific Assessors based on their role in the Assessment process, such as Team Leaders, Deputy Leaders, First-Time Assessors, Financial Analysts, Internal Assessment Champions and Experienced Assessors. Apart from the role-based orientation sessions, AssessmentINSIGHTS also includes deliberation on areas which are of importance to the new TBEM 2.0 framework, such as sustainability, innovation, and intrapreneurship, among others. These sessions are led by subject matter experts and experienced Assessors and are slated for Tuesdays and Thursdays throughout June, July and August 2024.
The inaugural session, ‘First-time Team Leaders and Deputy Leaders Orientation’, transpired on June 18, 2024, and was led by Subhrajit Basu, General Manager, TBExG. The session accentuated the dynamic nature of the Team Leader and Deputy Leader roles, Agile assessment strategic approach, leading and managing dynamic teams.
Narayanan Sabharatnam, Head of Retail Training, Titan, and an experienced Team Leader, emphasised the establishment of a communication structure with the assessee company, Mentor, and Assessor, the significance of collaborative assessment, and how to leverage the teams' domain expertise.
The subsequent session on June 20, 2024, crafted exclusively for Financial Analysts, was facilitated jointly by TBExG colleagues Siddharth Bhatt, Subhrajit Basu and Clare Meek. The three-hour discussion delved into the financial analyst’s contribution to augmenting the assessment’s value and fostering co-creation, probing key focus areas and industry nuances, assessing the quality of profitability, reviewing company growth, and timely availability of the financial analysis and reports.
The session demystified Financial Analysis, covering its purpose, process, and approach. It also included a hypothesis-building exercise through case studies. About 35 financial analysts and process consultants attended the session, which was attended by those gearing up for the 2024 TBEM Assessment cycle.
Several key stakeholders, namely Anindya Paul, Head of Business Finance, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles; Ratul Neogi, Head of Internal Audit & Business Excellence, Trent; and Kabir Ahmed Shakir, Chief Financial Officer of Tata Communications, shared several perspectives and expectations regarding the role of the financial analyst, competitive benchmarking and the impact of financial analysis in the overall assessment outcomes.
AssessmentINSIGHTS sessions have garnered positive responses from the initial two sessions and remain steadfast in their purpose to maximise the Assessors’ learning and insights throughout the subsequent nine sessions.
