Published on July 12, 2023

Every year, Tata Business Excellence Group (TBExG) plans a series of orientation sessions to provide key learnings and insights to assessors as they progress with the BE Assessment cycle. These invitation-based sessions have been curated for specific assessor roles, like Team Leaders, Deputy Leaders, internal assessors, first-time assessors and experienced assessors. Such knowledge sharing supports a commitment towards a customised, collaborative, and celebrated experience.

This year, the organisation planned nine orientation sessions which included orientations for first-time Team Leaders, Deputy Leaders and first-time assessors; changes in the assessment process and focused areas; understanding sustainability efforts in organisations, innovation efforts and customer mega trends. These sessions are schedule for every Tuesday and Friday from 3-4 pm IST in the month of July and August.

The first session on ‘Being First-time Team Leaders and Deputy Leaders’ was facilitated on July 4, 2023 and was led by Vinod Kumar, AVP, TBExG. The session emphasised upon understanding the evolving role of a Team Leader and a Deputy Leader, the collaborative and agile assessment approach, and learning best practices from previous assessments.

Tarun George, CEO, Tata Insights and Quants, shared his experiences of being a Team Leader and highlighted the building of a communication protocol with the company and assessors as well as the importance of being empathetic and leveraging the domain expertise of the team.

The second session was specially curated for the internal assessors on July 7, 2023, and was led by Devraj Chattaraj, GM, TBExG. The session elaborated the role of an internal assessor in elevating the value of the assessment process, and enhancing co-creation by involving internal assessors.

Experienced assessors Buddhiraj Deshmukh, BU Head, Air International, TTR Thermal Systems and Adhiraj Sengupta, Lead, Retail Process & New Store Opening, Croma, shared their experiences of being internal assessors in previous assessments. They threw light on the role of an internal assessor to demystify the organisation for assessors, enable them with the required information and help in articulating the feedback in a manner which can be easily understood by the organisation.
