TKM Global, a leading logistics and supply chain service provider under TM International Logistics Ltd. (TMILL), has initiated a series of sustainability initiatives based on key insights gained from the seventh Tata Supply Chain Management (SCM) Forum held at Tata Advanced Systems Limited (TASL), Hyderabad.
TMILL is a joint venture of Tata Steel (51%), IQ Martrade Holding & Management GmbH (23%), and NYK Holding (Europe) BV (26%). Since its inception in 1986, TKM Global has evolved into an integrated logistics service provider with capabilities across air freight consolidation, ocean freight, project shipments, customs clearance, and NVOCC services.
Aligned with the Tata group’s sustainability vision, the company is strengthening its ESG readiness and reducing its environmental footprint by addressing challenges such as high diesel consumption for power backup and transportation, excessive use of thermocol in packaging, and significant paper-based documentation.
TKM Global’s participation in the seventh Tata SCM Forum, held at TASL, Hyderabad on June 26–27, 2025, and attended by supply chain leaders from Tata companies and DHL, helped it gain practical insights that directly shaped the company’s sustainability roadmap.
The following learnings proved especially relevant:
- Green Transportation: Adoption of electric and CNG vehicles for local dispatch operations within a 75 km radius, saving up to 100 Liters of diesel per month and reducing CO2 emissions by ~ 0.52 MT monthly.
- Packaging Transformation: Discontinuation of non-biodegradable thermocol, cutting almost 2 tons of plastic waste annually.
- Operational Efficiency: Batch-wise planning for cargo movement and storage to minimise vehicle trips and emissions.
- Employee-Led Green Programmes: Introduction of internal sustainability initiatives linked to measurable KPIs such as energy savings and emission reductions, helping embed ownership and accountability across teams.
“These initiatives have not only reduced our environmental footprint but have also fostered a culture of accountability and innovation. Through small yet impactful steps, we are driving meaningful change in TKM’s sustainability journey,” said Manish Agarwal, Country Head, TKM Global Logistics Ltd.
TKM Global’s actions underscore its commitment to embedding eco-conscious practices across operations and contributing meaningfully to the Tata group’s broader ESG goals.
