The 10th edition of the Tata Internal Audit Forum (TIAF), hosted by Tata International on September 19, 2025, in Mumbai, brought together audit leaders, governance experts, and technology innovators from across the Tata group and Bosch Global. The discussions focused on the evolving role of internal audit in driving business resilience, transparency, and transformation.
The day began with a welcome session at the VIOS Tower, followed by a presentation by Mrunal Pitkar, Head MIS & Internal Financial Controls, Tata International, and team. Mrunal and team shared the company’s journey of integrating Internal Financial Controls (IFC) with internal audit, and how their approach to thematic audits, SOP alignment, and monthly control testing has helped eliminate repeat observations and standardise processes across verticals.
Mukundan K V, President, IIA India, delivered a keynote on the refreshed IIA Global Internal Audit Standards, emphasising professional courage, stakeholder engagement, and the importance of competency frameworks in modern audit practice.
A panel discussion on risk management within internal audit followed, featuring S. Bhaskar, CEO, Bmpro Consulting; Sanjay Mathur, CAE, Tata Communications; and Deepak Garg, CAE, Tata Teleservices. The panel explored how internal auditors can effectively balance their assurance and advisory roles while navigating engagement risks and ethical dilemmas.
An Open House session encouraged cross-company sharing of concerns and best practices, setting the stage for continued collaboration across Tata companies.
Post-lunch, Bosch’s global internal audit team presented a deep dive into their governance model. Dr Jens Last, Global CAE; Urban Konstanze, Head, IT–IA; and Satish K G, CAE, Bosch India, shared Bosch’s centralised audit model and the three-bucket audit planning approach, offering insights into managing risk across 500+ entities.
In the subsequent session, Himanshu Dhar, CAE, Tata Motors, and Chittranajan Sahoo, CAE, Air India, discussed the role of internal audit in governance, drawing from Tata Motors’ Management Oversight Committee and Consequence Management Framework as examples of accountability in action.
The final technical session featured Sivaram Subramoniam, CAE, Titan, presenting Titan’s Intelligent Automated Auditor (TIA). He demonstrated how bots, Alteryx, and AI tools are used for SAP data extraction, analytics, and exception reporting. Sivaram also shared pilots using ChatGPT and KNIME for secure, scalable audit analytics.
The day concluded with closing remarks from Lalit Kasliwal, CFO, Tata International, who spoke about the strategic importance of internal audit in navigating global risks and enabling sustainable growth.
