Tata AIA Adopts Best Practices from Tata Power-DDL to Elevate Employee Engagement

Published on November 07, 2025

Tata AIA Life Insurance Company Limited (Tata AIA) is one of the fastest-growing life insurance companies in India. With a strong foundation in the Tata Business Excellence Model (TBEM), Tata AIA has been recognised as a ‘Kincentric Best Employer’ for eight consecutive years and as a certified ‘Great Place to Work’ for the fourth year now.

As part of its ongoing commitment to enhancing employee engagement, Tata AIA engaged in a best practice sharing session with Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited (TPDDL) on August 28, 2025. The objective was to gain insights into TPDDL’s industry leading approaches across areas such as Digital Employee Connect Platforms, Diversity & Inclusion, Wellness Initiatives, and Volunteering Frameworks.

The session was led by Harleen Kaur, Head, Strategic HR & Workforce Management, TPDDL. Of the many practices shared, TPDDL’s ‘VIBES Happiness Pulse Check Platform’ — an innovative tool for boosting employee happiness and engagement — resonated strongly with Tata AIA.

Key features of the VIBES platform include:

  • Fortnightly Happiness Pulse Checks
  • Frequent Connects with HR and Process Owners
  • Real-Time Dashboards for Function Heads
  • Response Status Tabs for Employees

The platform enables TPDDL to maintain a continuous feedback loop, foster transparency, and proactively address employee concerns. Inspired by this approach, Tata AIA enhanced its existing ‘Voice of Employee’ framework by introducing a Daily Pulse Check through the DarwinBox interface. This initiative complements the company’s quarterly pulse surveys and is designed to:

  • Be completed during daily attendance marking
  • Offer a moment of reflection for employees
  • Provide a consistent engagement metric for Human Resources and leadership

The daily check-in now serves as a key indicator of employee sentiment and supports Tata AIA in fostering a workplace culture rooted in care, inclusion, and responsiveness.

Since its implementation, the Daily Pulse Check has delivered:

  • A 9.5% rise in Tata AIA’s engagement score over the previous year, strengthening its Great Place to Work standing.
  • Real-time insights into employee sentiment and engagement.

This collaboration with TPDDL reflects Tata AIA’s commitment to continuous improvement and its belief in the power of cross-company learning within the Tata ecosystem. The company continues to explore further adaptations in the areas of Diversity & Inclusion, Health & Wellness, and Volunteering, with the aim of building an even more inclusive, engaged, and caring workplace.
