Mentors of 15 Tata companies that underwent Business Excellence Assessment in the 2023 cycle presented their key findings to N Chandrasekaran, Chairman, Tata Sons. In addition, there was 1 mentor presentation from Data Excellence Assessment as well. The Mentors Presentation to Group Chairman took place virtually in two sessions, one on November 29, 2023, and the second one on December 1, 2023. The session was attended by Sanjeev Singh, Head, Tata Business Excellence Group (TBExG) and members of the Governing Council: Aarthi Subramanian, Chief Digital Officer, Tata Sons; Harish Bhat, Brand Custodian, Tata Sons; Puneet Chhatwal, MD & CEO, The Indian Hotels Company; Rajiv Sabharwal, MD & CEO, Tata Capital; and TV Narendran, MD, Tata Steel; Siddharth Bhatt, Deputy General Manager, TBExG, anchored both the sessions.
Mr Singh took the participants through the highlights of the Business Excellence Assessment 2023 cycle. Mentioning that Mentors play a critical role in the process and provide valuable guidance to the team, he added that the 15 Business Excellence Assessments were conducted by 180+ Assessors from 45+ Tata companies of which 23% were women Assessors. This year, seven new Mentors were inducted in the process and added significant value. Mr Singh also mentioned about the progress on Data and Cyber Excellence journeys.
The Mentors then narrated the summary of the Assessment findings for their respective companies. This also included the findings of a Data Excellence Assessment for Tata Communications. The summaries of findings were presented as follows:

Mr Chandrasekaran then addressed the attendees of the session, thanking the Mentors for their valuable contribution to the Business Excellence Assessment process. Mentioning that the process is an enriching one, Group Chairman added that such feedback enables the companies to get an outside-in view with a concrete set of observations and feedback. Mr Chandrasekaran went on saying that this process has something in it for everyone, the companies, the Mentors and the Assessors. He also highlighted the importance of Data Excellence Assessments, as data is critical for AI – an area that is increasingly becoming an important aspect of businesses. He also stressed that companies need to focus on sustainability and customer experience as these are fundamental for the Tata brand.
