Functional Expertise

Vinod Kumar heads the Data Maturity and Improvement Interventions practices at TBExG, which includes Deep Dive Diagnostics and Best Practice sourcing, curation, dissemination and implementation and Benchmarking. The Data Maturity practices enables Tata companies to prepare for and undertake Data Maturity Assessments as well as develop Data Excellence capability in the Group; the Deep Dive practice helps companies with in-depth diagnostics in specific areas within the Customer Centricity, Operational Excellence, Strategy Implementation, Competitive Intelligence and HR spaces, followed by specific recommendations and best practice recommendations for improvement. The Tata Best Practice Programme and Benchmarking initiatives facilitate Tata companies in identifying and implementing Best Practices from other companies in the Group.

Vinod has also helmed the training function in TBExG, revamped the TBEM training programmes and brought in elements from the Baldrige Framework. He was instrumental in bringing increased business focus and results assessment focus for TBEM assessments into the assessor training programmes. It was during his time that the Advanced Programme for Leaders, which is the apex level assessor training programme in the Tata Group, was introduced.

Before joining TBExG, he has worked in Tata Technologies and Tata Motors for 15+ years in CAD-CAM-CAE, manufacturing and technical functions. He gained implementation experience of several improvement methodologies during his tenure in these two companies.
