Tata Business Excellence Group (TBExG) conducted the 43rd Process Benchmarking Study on Supplier Network Resilience, with participation from 26 group companies across eight business verticals. The study aimed to understand the current maturity of supply network resilience within the group using the APQC-BCG framework, which evaluates six dimensions of the supply network chain. The findings were shared in a webinar held on October 9, 2024.
The study was designed by TBExG in collaboration with subject matter experts (SMEs) from APQC and Tata group companies. SMEs also shared practices from their respective companies during the session.
Dimensions of the Benchmarking Study:

Key takeaways from the study:
- 81% of Tata group companies performed on par with 38% of global companies in achieving business goals for 2023.
- 37% of Tata group companies reported that they have aligned ESG strategic goals with supply chain initiatives in a holistic approach to overall operations, transparent stakeholder reporting, competitive advantage, and long-term planning efforts, faring better than global companies.
- Tata group companies are prioritising sourcing strategy, inventory planning, and predictive modelling, while companies beyond the group are prioritising network design and crisis response.
- From the last study in 2022, visibility beyond Tier-1 suppliers has not changed significantly, for group companies.
- For companies beyond the Tata group, innovation and product development are in the top focus areas in supply networks.
- Big data, advanced analytics, and process standardisation are other areas that can significantly impact the supply network.
The findings will be shared with group companies to help identify opportunities for improvement. TBExG plans to host Best Practice sharing sessions for mutual learning, and also to support implementation of learning with help from SMEs across group companies.
