Define:
For Tata Projects to collect, analyse, and monitor the EHS data for ~200 projects engaging ~90K + workforce, staggered across India and international sites on excel sheets was a nightmare. Manual data collection was time-consuming and error-prone, while monitoring and analysis required extensive resources. Additionally, the manual system required paper use, leading to excessive paper consumption.
Measure:
During FY22, the organisation recorded and analysed a significant amount of data manually, including 3,931 near-miss incidents, 276,706 HSE observations, and various other processes such as incident reporting, training details, inspections, sub-contractor HSE performance evaluations, and more. The process of Permit To Work (PTW) was also manual, making it challenging to track and analyse its closure effectively.
Analyse:
Given the magnitude of the data that needs to be managed, it has become increasingly evident that there is a critical need for an efficient and streamlined digital solution to automate the recording, tracking, and analysis of HSE-related activities.
Improve:
To meet this need, Tata Projects has deployed TQDigi'lytics, a highly versatile digital platform on the web and mobile. This platform has been designed to enhance the overall efficiency of critical processes and enable streamlined management of HSE-related activities.
- TQDigi'lytics has been implemented in ~200 projects with more than 10,000+ users, including contractors
- The platform comprises 19 modules that cover all operational parameters related to safety management
- The modules include incident management, HSE observations, Permit To Work, Safety Assurance Index, inspections, sub-contractor evaluation, customer assessment, monthly safety reporting, Safety Risk Index and more
- The platform enables users to track safety targets, monitor safety performance in real time, and identify high-risk activities based on advanced data analysis
Impact and Outcome:

- 92% of improvement in PTW closure rate from 30%
- 30% improvement in HSE observation reporting per 10k workforce in FY23 compared to FY22
- 100% improvement in near miss reporting per 10k workforce in FY23 compared to FY22
- The platform enables tracking of closure for identified incident actions
- Implementation progress of various risk reduction programs such as monsoon safety, working at height, lifting, mass campaigns like road safety, national safety week and so on can be tracked
- The HSE reporting process has become 100% digital, eliminating the need for paper-based records
Control:
TQDigi'lytics has become an essential tool for safety management in the construction industry, with its ability to provide real-time data, improve reporting transparency, and enable accurate incident reporting. Its continuous use and improvement will contribute to achieving high safety standards and reducing risks on construction sites.
