Tata Motors Limited: Safety Initiative (Personal Safety Action Plan)

Published on July 10, 2023

Personal Safety Action Plan (PSAP): A Personal Safety Plan is to emphasise on personal commitment and actions towards personal safety, the safety of colleagues and the organisation’s safety pride.

This is also meant to utilise a person's unique strengths and abilities and demonstrate safety ownership. At the most senior level, the key objectives are fairly broad, and the actions to achieve them are often generic as they will often cover the entire organisation. The actions listed by the senior executive may be taken as key objectives for the next level of management, and their actions will start to become more specific. They then develop their own action plans to deliver the required result, adding one or more objectives pertinent to their particular area of responsibility, but which may not be necessary in their leader’s PSAP. This process continues to cascade down until, at the junior levels, the objectives are quite specific, fit the responsibilities of the officer exactly and with definite action steps to be taken as mentioned below:

  1. Personal commitment to safety (What is my personal commitment toward personal safety)
  2. Integrating safety (What I do for the safety of my colleagues and workers)
  3. Safety organisation (My commitment towards my organisational safety)

This PSAP is uploaded to the safety portal, and is self-monitored for compliance. These PSAP are reviewed twice a year (mid-term and end of the year).

A sample PSAP is as below:
