Each work shall have a safety management system that outlines the policies, processes, instructions, and documentation that will establish the culture of safety and understanding for all tiers involved on the job.
The network operations centre (NOC)/ Technical assistance centre (TAC) is at Nelco is running 24x7, 365 days a year with a manpower of 40+ people. Safety is one of the major aspects, and an assessment was conducted by the Tata Business Excellence Group team as part of their safety interventions at Nelco. Multiple points have been raised for improvements as listed below:
- Working platform gap at GSAT-18 antenna
- Open pathways to beam edge at SES-9 antenna platform
- Angle of inclination of the ladder
- RF room emergency switch
The safety committee has noted the risk, and corrective has been taken. The above points are taken into consideration, and an action item plan has been put in place to minimise the risk. Below are the details and actions taken to overcome/minimise the risk.
1. Working platform gap at GSAT-18 antenna:
