TBExG conducts Best Practices Conclave on Safety

Tata Business Excellence Group (TBExG) conducted a Best Practices Conclave on Safety in Hyatt Regency Mumbai on September 28 and 29, 2015. The two-day event, which attracted more than 75 participants from 35 Tata companies, had sessions from some of the world’s leading companies, including GE, Castrol, Walmart, Vodafone, OTIS Elevators, etc., as well as Tata companies like Tata Housing, TCS, Tata Chemicals, Tata Steel and Tata Motors. The conclave created a unique opportunity for senior and mid-level executives from across the Tata group to learn details about the Best Practices on safety from companies across the world. The session was also attended by S Padmanabhan, Executive Chairman, TBExG, who unveiled a book on ‘Sharing and Learning from Fatalities – Preventing Recurrences’, along with Suresh Tanwar, Chief – Group Safety & Health, TBExG.

The sessions on day 1 were:

  • Safety Culture and Maturity Models by Suresh Tanwar (TBExG)
  • Managing Safety in High Hazardous Projects by Abhay Shah (OTIS Elevators)
  • A framework based approach for Safety Auditing by S Balasubramoniam (DNV)
  • Emerging trends in safety legal requirements by A K Chaturvedi (EQMS)
  • Process Safety - Preventing low frequency, high severity incidents by M Ravindranath (Tata Chemicals)
  • Managing Driving/Road Safety - Castrol approach by Pankaj Singh (Castrol)
  • Safety Journey at the Tata group by S Padmanabhan (TBExG)
  • Retail Safety by Ritika Ratti (Walmart)

The sessions on day 2 were:

  • Preventing fatalities - Experiential Learning of Tata Steel Europe by Andrew Page (Tata Steel Group)
  • Safety Excellence Journey in Tata Motors by Satish Borwankar (Tata Motors)
  • Offices and Facilities Safety by A Agnihotri (TCS)
  • Uniqueness of Construction Safety - Tata Housing approach by Steven Linton (Tata Housing)
  • GE EHS Management Framework by Paresh Thakkar (GE India)
  • Driving safety – A Vodafone approach by Ishmeet Singh (Vodafone India)

The two-day event was quite well-received and extremely beneficial to the participants in terms of some key takeaways from the event.
