TBExG organises the Affirmative Action Team Leaders Programme in Mumbai

The Affirmative Action Team Leaders Programme (TAAP ATLP) was organised by Tata Business Excellence Group (TBExG) at IHCL President, Mumbai, from November 7-8, 2023. The event was attended by 70+ participants from 26 companies including CHROs, CPOs and AA Champions.

The two-day event included a series of panel discussions, fire side chats, experience sharing and deliberations.

Day 1 of the event began with Gayatri Vasudevan, Co-Founder and CEO, LabourNet India, with a session on ‘Facilitating financial inclusion and social security for contractual worker’. She highlighted the importance of prioritising social in ESG, skilling for the digital economy and future of work and enabling efficiencies through variabilisation of work.

A panel discussion on ‘Enabling environment for contractual workforce’ was conducted with Subir Verma, Head - HR (T&D Cluster Companies), Tata Power; Sudipta Marjit, Group Head - HR, Tata AutoComp; and Sudhansu Misra, CHRO, Croma. It was moderated by Rohit Saroj, Deputy General Manager, Tata Motors. The panelists covered existing best practices to support contractual workforce in Tata companies, real time challenges while working with contractual workforce and how to overcome them and ways to create a larger impact on the contractual workforce community.

Another panel discussion was held on ‘Creating livelihood opportunities for AA communities focusing on PWDs communities’. The esteemed panelists included N Sridhar, Head - Corporate Sustainability, Titan; Sreela Das Gupta, Lead SME - DEI, Tata Consultancy Services; and Amitabh from Tata Steel. The session was moderated by Arshiya Mecklai, Advisor - CSR Sustainability & Employee Engagement, Trent. Topics included job mapping for PWD placements, role of employer, importance of PWD awareness and sensitisation in corporates, how to enable infrastructure and mindset changes. Day 1 concluded with a fire side chat on ‘Employment and entrepreneurship opportunities for AA communities’ with panellist Jehangir Katrak, VP - Logistics, Warehousing, Tata Consumer Products; and Rahul Pinjarkar, CHRO, Tata Chemicals. This was moderated by Shreyas Desai, General Manager, TBExG.

Senior Assessors and AA Champions deliberated on Assessment 2023 insights on Day 2. They shared real time challenges and areas of improvements through the Assessment process. Assessment experiences from first time Assessors, first time Team Leads, new companies applying for the first time and large company TAAP Assessments like Tata Steel. Aparna Uppaluri, Chief Operating Officer of the Tata Trusts delivered a session on ‘Key programmes impacting AA communities’. 

The event concluded with a summarisation by Prantik Sarkar from TBExG and closing remarks by Sanjeev Singh, Head, TBExG. All the participants were deeply engaged and deliberated on various areas to enhance the TAAP Assessment experience in next year’s Assessment cycle.
