On March 18th, 2023, Quality Circle Forum of India (QCFI), Pune Chapter, organised a Safety Case Study competition, wherein the Composites Division from Tata AutoComp was awarded Gold for their project ‘Improve Safety Work Culture by TASK Implementation" at the Chakan plant. A total of 21 teams participated in the competition.
Problem definition:
The Fire/Smoke detection panel showed the ID number of the detector, and there were more than 90 detectors installed across the company. The maintenance person had to take printouts of a list of detectors and search accordingly, which used to take approx. 5 min to locate the detector and attend to the problem.
Solution:
Provided dedicated display at prominent places such as reception and security gate, showing the detector ID’s location by blinking. This helped identify the problem location quickly and effectively in a few seconds.
