TBExG conducted two workshops on Risk Assessment for Tata Global Beverages (TGB) - operations team, including factory employees at Bengaluru and Kolkata locations. The two workshops, which took place from May 20-24, 2019, were attended by 58 TGB employees and business partners. The workshop threw light on the concepts of Risk Assessment through both classroom sessions and practical case studies enabling the participants to assess the factory risk aspects and analyse the existing HIRA report.
The first day, of both the workshops, which was a classroom session, started with appreciating the current health and safety risks at TGB and contextualising it with Group incidents. The participants were also taken through the concepts, methodology and techniques related to Hazard Identification & Risk Assessment (HIRA). Group exercises to familiarise participants on the Risk Assessment Policy as well as existing HIRA documents also took place. The Group Safety & Health team also used an interactive and interesting online based game to take the participants through the Tata Safety Standards.
On Day 2 of the workshops, participants visited factory sites to practically conduct Risk Assessments in six pre-defined high-risk activities by interacting with workers and reviewing existing control measures. As this was based on the principles discussed on Day 1 in the classroom session, the participants were able to relate the classroom sessions to on-the-ground practical scenarios.
At the end of the workshop, all participants came back to the classroom and reported their findings. The programmes were well appreciated and the participants were clear on how to make Risk Assessment & Management a way of life in the organisation.
